BSA is the voice of the world's commercial software industry in front of governments and in the international marketplace. It was founded in 1988 and has offices in 65 countries. It seeks to "educate policy makers and eradicate global software piracy".

Together with its affiliated organizations across the country, the association represents 1,300 companies in information and communication technology (ICT) industry in all sectors including the production of hardware, microelectronics, software and electronic content and the delivery of ICT services.
